Custom Editorial Manager

1105 Media's Government Information Group provides information, insight and analysis for the Government IT and Education IT (FED/SLED) sectors, as well as coverage of federal employee news and issues.  Our content platforms include print, digital, online, events and a broad spectrum of marketing services.

The Custom Editorial Manager is responsible for the creation and oversight of all custom (sponsored) print, online and event content within the 1105 Government Information Group.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, writing, assigning, and editing articles; ensuring high quality editorial standards; assisting clients with topic selection and leading content calls; speaker acquisition calls and moderating webcasts and in-person events as needed. This position reports to the Senior Content Strategist in the 1105 Government Information Group.
 

Essential Job Functions:
 
  • Keep current with news & trends in Government IT market
  • Ability to research and stay informed on important issues related to Government IT
  • Demonstrate interest in Public Sector technology
  • Participate in client kick off meetings for both events and custom media programs
  • Summarize client content goals and objectives for freelance writers
  • Oversee the freelance writers and monitor all content deadlines
  • Write abstracts for event proposals and custom assets
  • Support the Sr. Content Strategist in editing articles for custom projects to professional standards
  • Maintain superior quality standards for all print and digital custom pieces
  • Collaborate with the Project Management team to achieve sponsors marketing objectives
  • Moderate Government Voice & Partner webcasts as requested
  • Moderate event panels as requested

 
 
Required:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of editorial experience
  • Possesses superior editorial skills
  • Excellent collaboration skills – works well in a team environment
  • Manage deadlines around assignments appropriately
  • Maintains excellent communication with stakeholders
  • Ability to work on multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills plus attention to detail
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be a critical thinker and able to problem-solve in a time-sensitive manner
  • Works diplomatically with a variety of clients


Preferred:
 
  • Experience as an Editor or Sr. Reporter in Public Sector or Government IT or Technology fields
  • Experience in editing articles and managing freelance writers
  • Track record of professional writing
