1105 Media's Public Sector Group provides information, insight and analysis for the Government IT and Education IT (FED/SLED) sectors, as well as coverage of federal employee news and issues. Our content platforms include print, digital, online, events and a broad spectrum of marketing services.

We are currently searching for a Marketing Manager to join our Public Sector Media team.  The Marketing Manager is responsible for the execution of marketing strategy for 10+ media and event brands.  This position requires both a strategic mind and the ability to diligently execute on marketing tasks and initiatives.  The Marketing Manager is also in charge of all trade agreements, barters and paid event management (booth/materials ordering, bonus distribution calendar, etc.).

Essential Functions:
  • Assist the Chief Marketing Officer in the development of branding, messaging and web marketing strategy across 13 media brands with significant web presence
  • Manage the execution of promotional materials and programs that support the advertising sales team and drive advertising sales revenue 
  • Execute superior marketing copywriting for a variety of collateral and online campaigns, including emails, media kits, website copy, press releases and PowerPoint presentations
  • Maintain consistent brand messaging across all sales and marketing materials
  • Strategically support Chief Marketing Officer with government-market related statistics and updates, using outside information sources (Goal: giving sales team competitive edge)
  • Negotiate, execute and fulfill trade agreements with partners, including managing tradeshow logistics, reserving print and digital ad space, and facilitating e-mail blasts for partners
  • Create and maintain bonus distribution calendar and ensure publications are delivered on time
  • Coordinate and fulfill sales support requests, including search, collateral production and email creation
  • Work closely with Data Services to schedule, deploy and track e-mail messages
  • Collaborate with the creative services team to create and update websites, sales collateral and other projects as assigned
  • Coordinate large in-house research projects and analyze results to craft messaging
  • Conduct industry research and analysis including competitive research
  • Write and update website content
  • Distribute and manage press releases
  • Manage coding and processing of invoices (invoice log)

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of marketing experience
  • Must possess superior marketing copywriting skills
  • Competency in InDesign and Photoshop (can make text edits, font changes, etc.)
  • Competency in Microsoft Office and strong proficiency in Excel
  • Knowledge of basic HTML and/or Dreamweaver
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong work ethic and the capacity to succeed in a fast-paced environment
  • An attitude of initiative with the reputation of being a quick learner and self-starter
  • Ability to work on multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills and attention to detail
  • Works diplomatically with a variety of trade partners

  • Experience in government technology field
  • Supervisory or leadership experience
  • Project management software experience (Basecamp)
